The State Executive Council announced their State-wide Service Project challenge at the Fall Leadership Rally on Monday October 11, 2011. Each chapter is asked to hold a canned food drive and collect at least 150 cans before the State Leadership Conference this spring. Please strive for more cans!
Including other student organizations (student council, FFA, etc.) in the can drive is welcome. Chapters are encouraged to contact their local food pantry for specific items they may need; you can help out by advertising for those certain items more than others. After all the cans are collected, your adviser should take a picture of your chapter with your accomplishments. Make your cans into a tower or castle. Be creative to show off all your hard work. The photo must be submitted by your adviser when he/she registers for State Leadership Conference along with the number of cans collected. If your chapter is not attending the conference, we would still like to recognize your chapter in our slide show by sending the information to Jenn Callahan at jenn.callahan@iafccla.org.
All chapters participating in the State-wide Service Project will receive a certificate at the State Leadership Conference. There are three levels of recognition: white level: fewer than 150 cans collected; black level: 151-300 cans collected; red level: more than 300 cans. Chapters that place in the top three will send a representative from their chapter to the stage to receive their chapter’s award. We encourage every chapter to participate! Good luck to everyone and collect as many cans as you can.
In Red and White,
Andrea Kuffel
