On Wednesday, October 26, I had the opportunity to attend the District 12 meeting. I had a
fantastic time and the energy of the members was exciting! This meeting, held in Hinton included many
schools from the West Central part of the state! I had a great time getting to know the members,
watching their great District Officers lead their district and listening to their great speakers!
In the morning, I was able to speak about my FCCLA experiences, STAR events, Peer Education
and Running for Office! Following that, we heard candidate speeches and the voting commenced! After
voting our main speaker, Mike Donahue from R5 Productions spoke about Walking a Mile in other
people’s shoes. Mike is one of my favorite motivational speakers because after hearing Mike speak, you
always feel empowered to do something positive. Next, we ate lunch and after following heard from
another speaker who spoke about being an organ donor and its importance. He had a real reason for
speaking about organ donations also as he had received a kidney transplant.
Overall, I had a great time at the District 12 meeting and would love to attend over and over
again! I love the energy and excitement through the entire meeting! I’m looking forward to seeing some
great things from the members of District 12 and I hope they had as great of a time as me! I can’t wait to
see some District 12 members at State Leadership Conference!
