On Monday November 7th, District 7 met at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo Iowa. The theme for this year was FCCLA; Careers, Finding your passion. State officers present were Meredith Francisco, Andrew McGlaughlin, and Mikayla Vanden Berg. This year opening ceremony was lead by Andrew McGlaughlin, not as a state officer but as the district President. “It was in interesting day for myself, trying to do three different leadership rolls at one time. Keeping an eye on the J-Town Chapter, Setting up as the District President, and of course trying to help fellow state officers”, said Andrew. “I loved the emblem ceremony since, I got to be apart of it as well as the chapter presidents” said Mikayla. They day started and moved right along. The guest speaker for this year was one of the Representative from the Children’s Miracle Network. Members got ideas of their own to start up a team for the next Dance Marathon. Mikayla and Meredith got the privilege to help out the Officer Candidates. “Even though I didn’t get to hear their speeches it was fun to hangout with them before they went on!”,said Meredith. After the Candidates speeches came lunch, followed by the round table sessions. There were 4 different career areas. The areas were Finances, Entrepreneurship, AE Dairy, and Clothing designer.  After Closing Ceremony, it was time to head home. We all had an amazing day. District 7 was an amazing experience for all three of us.
