President Sirena Lindsay

Hello to the Iowa Delegation! My name is Sirena Lindsay, and I am the current State President. Last summer at Nationals in Chicago, I decided I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and do whatever it took to become a State Officer. Now that I have achieved my goal, I cannot wait to meet as many members as I can throughout the year and learn about what the people of our Iowa delegation think, feel, and learn about FCCLA. My favorite FCS class has been Life Skills, and I’m very excited to take Advanced Foods and Nutrition next semester. Besides FCCLA, I also participate in theatre, dance, and youth group. After high school, I plan on majoring in International Studies and Journalism, either at the University of Minnesota or a small liberal arts college.

First Vice President, Hayley Ellis

Hey Iowa FCCLA! I’m Hayley Ellis and I am serving at your 2011-2012 First Vice President. I joined FCCLA in eighth grade and attended various conferences from the district to national level. FCCLA forced me to ‘step out of my box’ and changed me into the person I am today. I decided that I wanted to give back to the organization that has had such a big role in my life. Today, as a state officer I can’t wait to meet all of the amazing Iowa FCCLA members across the state this fall at district meetings and Fall Leadership Rally! My favorite FCS class has to be one of the foods classes I’ve taken or Independent Living which has helped prepare me for college. I am also involved with Math Club, National Honor Society, Yearbook and Speech. In the future, I plan to go to Iowa State University and major in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.

Vice President of Finance and Records, Meredith Francsico

Hi, my name is Meredith Francisco, and I’m serving as your 2011-2012 Vice President of Records and Finance. I remember looking up at my friend Christy Suesakul my freshman year at SLC and thinking, “hey, that’s pretty cool”. She seemed so dedicated to her office and FCCLA that I wanted to be that way too. I’m really looking forward to attending other districts’ meetings and meeting people from all over Iowa! My favorite FCS class is Housing and Interiors, which I am taking right now. I’m in speech and drama, I play soccer, I work at Hy-Vee, and sometimes I even volunteer at the Des Moines Playhouse! I’d like to major in high school education as an English and drama teacher or teach linguistics and anthropology at the college level–I haven’t really decided yet!

Vice President of Public Relations, JT Roe

Hey, my name is Jonathan Roe, better known as JT, and I am serving as your 2011-2012 Vice President of Public Relations. I moved from Minnesota to Iowa the summer in between my freshman and sophomore year of high school. I was involved in FCCLA starting in 7th grade and attended my first State Leadership Conference in Minnesota where I saw the FCCLA State officers and thought they were the coolest people in the whole state. I knew then that I wanted to be as confident and outgoing as them. I have always wanted to do whatever I could in FCCLA, such as STAR Events and going to as many meetings as I could, and now as your State Officer, I am able to meet everyone and attend several different District Meetings, which I am looking forward to. My favorite FCS class was Culinary Arts II, because it was a challenge and I love to cook and eat. I am also involved with FFA, 4-H, a lamb ambassador, Choir, Church Choir, and I was involved in my first musical this past year. Sports-wise I am in Cross Country, Basketball, and a sprinter and jumper in Track and Field. I am not 100% sure on my future plans but I am planning on going to college and thinking about majoring in Engineering or Food Chemistry. No matter what path I take, I am planning on always being involved with the best organization in the nation, FCCLA!
